A Tale Of Old Wood.

A few months ago I received my old bedroom suite that use to be my great grandfathers. Its a full size solid wood head board, foot board, rails, chest of drawers, and dresser and mirror. As I went to inspect it all the memories came rushing back like a wild horse running through an open field. If only wood could talk!!! Oh the stories it would tell. Anyways I went to clean it off, and to my horror the stain started coming off in clumps!!! If you could imagine I was in complete distress! I had let my grandmother use it in her house for a few years and by the time I had gotten it, all those years of cigarette smoke had settled and practically ruined the finish. I was just about to throw it in the dump when my husband came into the shed and started sanding it. When I saw what was underneath I knew right then and there exactly how I wanted it. As we sanded, and sanded and sanded we started to see the true beauty the hid underneath. It took us 3 months to sand, and to wax.. but the end result couldn't have been any better. What I now have is a one of a kind bedroom group that is stunning just as it is great quality. Here are some pictures detailing our journey.

So next time you see something that looks like its trash.. remember there could be a diamond underneath all that rough exterior.
