The Two Dollar Shelf

Walking through the antique shops you can sometimes find really good deals! Like the other day I was wandering through and found this shelf. It was painted cream color with a metal swirl detail on the bottom in gold. Now don't get me wrong I like gold but its not a color I would put all throughout my home. It was scratched and hidden right in plain sight. I was expecting to pay at least $6 for this shelf but when I turned the tag over it said $2.50!!! I smiled and told my friend that I have to get it. I instantly envisioned this aqua blue shelf with deep black scroll design. I took it home with me and got to work on it. luckily the metal part unscrewed so I wouldn't have to paint in and out of the scroll work, or worry about the colors getting splattered on one another.  I started painting this morning and let it dry a few hours and this is my beautiful outcome. Its just what I had visualized! I can't wait to add this treasure to my booth tomorrow!

Diamonds In The Ruff

I was going through stuff that my friend was throwing away and I came across two wall hangs that were made to look like cameos. I had no idea of  what their age might be or even where they came from (neither did she) but I knew that they were diamonds in the rough. I wrapped them up and took them home with me and decided to paint them. They needed a little bit of work, so I had to wash the dirt off, lightly sand the surface, and then paint and distress. I am so happy I took these home because they look amazing!
